Orangutans in the Mist

Traveling to China

What do the above magazines have in common?  They all have Tim's picture in their recent issues.  The Magazine Publishers Association is using Tim's image of a file-eared tree frog from Borneo Island, Indonesia as part of their ad campaign.  The ad below was published in the March 14th issue of Time Magazine.

NG Masters of Photography Lecture

National Geographic Live is presenting two lectures by Tim this weekend.  The first is entitled Bizarre and Breathtaking in New Guinea which will be held on Friday November 5th at 7:30 p.m. at National Geographic in Washington D.C..  To find out more information and to purchase tickets visit the National Geographic Events webpage. Simply Beautiful

Japanese or red-crowned cranes in standing in morning mist.

The Steven Kasher Gallery is hosting the exhibit Simply Beautiful from October 21 to November 23.  Tim's image Cranes in Morning Mist, Hokkaido Island, Japan is on display along with other National Geographic photographers pictures.  All of the NG Image Collection images are available as limited edition prints.

Gallery a Success

Tim's images were on display at the Konica-Minolta Building in Toyko during September and it was a great success.  The theme was on Biodiversity and showcased Tim's work from the rain forest treetops to Fiji's reefs.  Tim was featured in an article in The Yomiuri Shimbun which has the largest newspaper circulation in the world.  Below is a copy of the article that was published on September 23rd.

Travel to Antarctica with Tim

National Geographic Expeditions in association with Lindblad Expeditions host a trip to Antarctica, South Georgia, and the Falklands.  Tim will be the National Geographic photographer on the February 15th to March 10, 2011 expedition.  On this 24 day trip, Tim will have many opportunities to photograph different species of wildlife including the penguins, petrels, albatrosses, whales, and seals.  Check out the expedition details and a map of the locations the National Geographic Explorer will land.

New York Times

Today's article entitled "Precursor to H.I.V. Was in Monkeys for Millennia" used Tim's image of a black colobus from Bioko.  It illustrated one of the species of monkeys that researchers studied to determine the mutation rate of S.I.V.  You can read the article in the Health section of the NYT.

Gallery Opening in Japan

The Konica-Minolta Plaza gallery in Tokyo will be showing Tim's prints from September 8th to October 7th.  It is entitled Biodiversity because the selection of the 100 cm prints is a collection of his best work.  The work covers the depths of the ocean to the tree tops of Borneo and from the antarctic landscape to rain forests of Indonesia.

The Wildlife Photojournalist in OP

Tim was featured in the August issue of Outdoor Photographer.  The interview is about what it is like to be a wildlife photojournalist and how he gets the perfect shot.  The opening spread (below) features an adult male Bornean orangutan eating ginger stems while keeping an eye on the female he has been following.
