Pelicans and Winter Surf — I photographed this along the cliffs of La Jolla during a winter storm. Pelicans and a lone cormorant follow the cliff line as surf hammers the rocks and spray lifts into the light.

I photographed this Costa’s hummingbird poised on the sharp edge of an aloe leaf. Its iridescent plumage reveals subtle emerald tones while the soft, muted background amplifies the bird&rsquo
